Books I plan to read in July

I'm linking up again today with The Deliberate Reader, sharing the list of books I plan to read in July.

I did pretty well with my list for June. I completed 4 books and am in the middle of the 5th (Hit). I did not read 2 of the books I planned to read: Inkheart (I'll be reading this book next.) and Why We Get Fat (I bought that one more of a reference book). I did end up reading/listening to 8 other books this month.

For July I am planning to read the following books.

Flunked by Jen Calonita
How did I get it: I borrowed it from the library.
Why did I get it: I read about it on another blog. It's a fairy tale retelling, so I have to read it even though it's middle grade.

Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway
How did I get it: I borrowed it from the library.
Why did I get it: I have read so many good reviews about this YA title.

Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy
How did I get it: I borrowed it from the library.
Why did I get it: It's my YA book club selection for July.

Sense & Sensibility (The Austen Project #1) by Joanne Trollope
How did I get it: I borrowed it from the library.
Why did I get it: I read about these Austen retellings, and I knew I had to read them.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
How did I get it: I borrowed the e-audio book from Overdrive.
Why did I get it: I keep hearing about this series, so I needed to check it out.

The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown
How did I get it: I borrowed the audiobook from the library.
Why did I get it: I rowed crew in high school, so this story appealed to me.

All Roads Lead to Austen by Amy Elizabeth Smith
How did I get it: I bought the Kindle book.
Why did I get it: I saw this book on Modern Mrs. Darcy's Kindle book deal page, and I had to buy it since I love all things Austen.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
How did I get it: I borrowed the e-audiobook from Overdrive.
Why did I get it: When I finished my last Overdrive audiobook, I searched for anything from my "to read" list that was available.  This was the first book I found.

  4. Hm. The baby interrupted. Either my comment is in moderation-land, or I didn't actually hit enter... and it disappeared. Haha.

Try Fairest if you like fairy tale retellings! I reviewed it a few years ago, let me find it.

    1. Oh, it's actually called Fairest of Them All -- it's a Rapunzel/Snow White mash-up! http://www.quirkybookworm.com/2013/08/book-review-fairest-of-them-all-by.html

  5. You had several books on your list that sounded intriguing, but your reviews since have got me thinking I'm going to pass on all of them. Which I guess is good for my TBR pile, but still disappointing when the premises sound so appealing.

(I was interested in Flunked, Side Effects May Vary, and Before I Fall)

  6. Yeah. It's been a little disappointing. I have some more positive reviews coming up this week and next. I just need to finish up the books. :)
